Graduated with a B.A. in Art, Photography Emphasis from San Francisco State University. I have 32 years in the business, most of that time as a studio owner/operator. In 1995 I became involved in the early days of the Web and founded several wedding-related sites, including weddinglinks.com. From 1997 to 2001 I was Associate Director of Photography for Robert Pierce Studios in Santa Rosa California, where I managed most Studio operations. In 2001 I opened Moon Valley Studio in the Sonoma Valley Wine Country town of Glen Ellen, California. I specialize now in family portraiture, high school seniors, commercial photography specializing in renewable energy installations, and youth sports. I'm currently in graduate school at Dominican University of California working towards an MBA degree in Sustainable Enterprise (Green MBA).
Portraits
I have met all of the requirements for Green Business Certification in Sonoma County, California and will receive my certification on Aug. 3, 2010. I have been proactive about influencing my vendors and supply chain to provide more sustainable products and services. I now proof everything online (except for family portraits which I still project) and wherever possible use only folders and packaging made from recycled content or that is compostable. I continue to upgrade my computers, monitors, printers, etc. with the most efficient equipment possible (used where possible) and to recycle all equipment and other materials in the most sustainable way I can. I use 100% recycled paper for all of my non-photo needs and have my business cards made at greenprinter.com. I have replaced all of my accent lighting with fluorescents (soon to be LED's I hope). I have prepared a report for, and given a presentation to, the tenants and management of my shopping complex on ways they can become more energy efficient, recycle more, and use water more responsibly. This report led to the replacement of the toilets in the public restrooms with low-flow models (through a no-cost local incentive program), and I am hopeful the proposal for a large solar array on the roof will gain the approval of the property owner. Greening my Studio operations as well as my personal life is an ongoing process and challenge—it is a journey and not a destination. I am committed to becoming as sustainable as possible, and am convinced that doing this will add, not subtract, to my bottom line. |
