We believe that being green is more than just a check-list of business practices; it is a lifestyle, based on our love for the planet and its natural beauty. Here are some of the ways in which we incorporate this theory in practice in our lives:

Home-based business, so no regular commuting.

Car-pooling with my assistant photographer to weddings and events.

I drive a small-engined, four-cylinder car with a manual transmission.

We offer eco-friendly album and printing choices (bamboo paper, etc).

We do not use paper proofs and offer finished files on electronic media, as well as encouraging the printing of only a few large wall prints instead of many small prints.

We make a lower margin on our green products to encourage clients to buy them.

We leave our lights off unless absolutely necessary. My tungsten office lights are low-wattage and I only turn them on for less than 10% of my working hours. I use natural window light the rest of the time.

We use rechargeable batteries for our flashes.

House and home-office cooling in warm months provided by a very low-energy fan from www.canadawholehomefans.ca.

Extra insulation for colder months with roller-shutters on windows.

Our walls are painted with water-based low-VOC paints.

Our furniture is eco-friendly when possible.

We reuse, sell, and donate everything we can, including electronics and clothing.

We buy food from local farms when available.

We take our own non-plastic bags when shopping.

Everything we buy is organic when possible, including our mattresses, bedding, clothing, and of course, our food.

We use environmentally-friendly cleaners and personal care products, such as seventh generation, ecover, and Green Beaver Company.
