GP: How green is your business – what green business practices do you embrace?

WSF: How Green are we?  Well, all of our frames are made from a recycled wood product AND all of our paint is either NO VOC  (Volatile Organic Compounds) or  LOW VOC.   We buy all of our products from American companies. Most are in Alabama, with us. This reduces our carbon footprint regarding shipping. We use terry cloth towels instead of paper towels for dusting and cleaning during production so that we can wash and reuse.

GP: How green are your products – what green products/components do you offer?

WSF: In addition to our recycled wood product frames and low- or no-VOC paint, we are excited about our new “Green Trims!”  After being even more inspired by Greener Photography, we found a mill in North Mississippi (only 60 miles from us) that specializes in crown moulding and other architectural trims for historical homes. They can replicate anything!  But the best part is, when they have a decorative trim, they make the decorative part with crushed almond and pecan shells. For the other part of the trim, reclaimed wood is used. How cool is that?  These are being introduced this month on our website and we are thrilled with all the possibilities!

We are tickled to introduce the Greener Photography color collection (COMMING SOON!), representing natural shades from all around the world in a zero-VOC paint.

GP: Why did you choose to offer green products and implement green business practices?

WSF: I am originally from South Mississippi, the Gulf Coast to be exact. My family still lives there and I call it “home.”  Being raised on the coast has always made me very aware of our eco-system and the importance of it to our well being. Since this company started in my garage 6 years ago I have been very conscious about the products I choose to work with and purchase. I do know that every little bit helps and I constantly remind my children of that fact. I try to involve them when we are making business decisions so that they can see and understand the importance of these seemingly small details. I know I will leave this earth to them and their children one day and I want it to be a good one.

GP: How has offering green products and implementing green business practices affected your company?

WSF: First of all, I never dreamed this company would be the size it is now and grow in this way. I feel blessed beyond compare!  When I first made the decision to investigate my vendors and purchase the materials that I did, I was thinking very small. “This will really not matter, but it matters to me,” I thought. Little did I know how much paint we would actually use and how my choices really would make a difference!  I don’t really have these facts anywhere on my website but that is going to change now (LOL) . Thanks to Greener Photography we are going to make a special page to brag about all our efforts! I knew they mattered, I just didn’t realize how much people would really care!

GP: What is your favorite eco website or eco-product that we may not have heard of?

WSF: I LOVE Nashville Wraps (www.nashvillewraps.com) Green Way product line. It is this really cool line of packaging products that are all recycled. They offer plastic bags, paper bags, tissue paper, giftwrap and even compostable cello bags!  Actually, we are using this tissue paper for the packaging of Greener Photography’s NEW trim collection (COMING SOON).

Just want to say that we are so excited to be working with Greener Photography and learn more and more about great new products and good ideas to make this world just a little bit greener!
